  Individual Taxes

We can help hundreds of individuals with their personal income tax preparation every year. Last year we also prepared returns for residents of 22 other states besides map Michigan. We prepared dozens of returns for individuals with foreign income.

Compare us to do-it-yourself solutions. Every year we are presented with returns from people who have prepared their returns using do-it-yourself software packages. In 90% of the cases, we find errors in these returns, most of which are in the taxpayers favor.

Many times we hear of people say, “I worked on my taxes this weekend.” How much is your time worth? Most of our appointments last 1 hour. In that time, we will review your prior year’s returns and gather and review your current year’s information. A short time later, your return will have been prepared, reviewed and be available to submitted to the taxing agencies after your review and approval. Isn’t your time and peace of mind worth more than that?

We will analyze your relationships and will ask you about the status of various documents that may need to be in effect in order to provide for those who depend on you.

We work with professionals from many different fields who are able to lend their expertise to make sure that all of your needs are provided for. These include financial advisors, attorneys, life insurance agents, home and auto insurance agents, mortgage brokers, real estate agents retirement plan administrators.

Retirement and beyond, we encourage all of our clients to save as much as a they can for retirement and in general. The last recession proved why we all need more savings.

Below is a map of the states we have done work for:

Business Taxes

We prepare federal and state returns for Corporations (regular and S-corporations), partnerships, and LLCs.  We start from a variety of starting points ranging from bank statements to spreadsheets to unadjusted trial balances and complete the tax returns based on the best long-term outcome.  We take a long-term view.  Maximizing a deduction this year, that costs you more money next year than saves you this year, is not always the smart solution.  Some clients have more sophisticated accounting systems than others and we are able to adapt to your level to maximize the value and efficiencies for our clients.

Trusts

We prepare trusts for families, estates, remainder estates.  We work with attorneys to ensure that the trust accounting is done in a manner consistent with the legal documents.

Foreign Income Exclusion

For the past five years, we have helped nearly 100 individuals and their families who have either re-located overseas or have accepted employment overseas. There are many specific rules and regulations that apply to citizens of the United States in these situations and we have the experience to help you mitigate the income tax effects
